Job summary

Speedy Hire Plc in Erith seeks a Foreman to lead a busy workshop and oversee servicing, repairs and maintenance of hire equipment. The role places you at the heart of a strong mechanical team responsible for keeping equipment ready for customers.

You will manage Service Engineers, prioritise workloads, and ensure stock and asset accuracy while promoting safety and quality standards. 42 hours per week with ongoing training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and technical knowledge.
• Experience supervising or leading a team.
• Engineering experience in plant hire, construction equipment or similar.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Experience managing stock and assets.
• Hands-on approach with adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Service Engineers.

We're looking for an experienced Foreman to join our busy Erith depot, taking the lead on the servicing, repair, refurbishment and maintenance of our hire equipment.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys solving problems, supporting other engineers and keeping a busy workshop running smoothly.

What you'll be doing

• Leading and supporting a team of Service Engineers
• Overseeing servicing, repairs and maintenance
• Providing hands‑on technical support when needed
• Prioritising workloads to keep equipment available for customers
• Managing stock, assets and equipment counts
• Identifying training and development needs within the team
• Maintaining high standards of health & safety and housekeeping

What you'll need

• Strong mechanical and technical knowledge
• Previous experience supervising or leading a team
• Engineering experience within plant hire, construction equipment or a similar industry would be ideal
• Good organisational and communication skills
• Experience managing stock and assets
• A hands‑on approach and the ability to adapt in a fast‑paced environment
• A strong focus on safety and quality
