Job summary

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is seeking a leader to manage and develop all domestic football development programmes, directing Programme Managers and Coordinators, and aligning strategies with the club’s DNA and strategy. Qualifications

  • Experience coaching within football development, academy, or education-based programmes.
  • Proven experience managing or leading a team of coaches with performance management and QA.

The Role

Lead on the management and development of all domestic football development programmes, providing direction and oversight to Programme Managers and Coordinators across the department. Support the GFD Management team in devising suitable strategies that will enhance the wider GFD programmes, ensuring a joined-up and holistic approach across the College environment (16–18-year-olds), Private School provision, Next Generation and Player Development programmes, including development centres. The post-holder will ensure that all programme operations, logistics and coaching are led and managed in a professional manner, adhering to all relevant Club policies, operating procedures, and coaching philosophies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the department’s domestic football programme plan aligned with wider GFD strategy.
Domestic Programme Delivery
  • Lead on the management of all football delivery across domestic football development programmes
  • Support the Football Development Manager with managing budgets for all domestic programmes and ensuring targets aligned to club strategy, inclusive of the growth of the commercial and player engagement strategy
  • Lead on the growth and sustainability of the domestic model by working closely with internal programme managers to pursue commercial opportunities alongside the Business Development & Partnerships Manager
  • Recognise and provide updates to the Head of GFD and Business Development & Partnerships Manager on additional business expansion opportunities outside of the current delivery model
  • Build credible relationships with domestic partners to support the development and growth of domestic programmes, year on year
  • Develop connections between GFD partners and wider club partners for business opportunities / Pathways for staff and players
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure all domestic programmes have appropriate marketing plans to drive student recruitment
  • Work with Football Development Manager to develop overarching strategies for the domestic model and individual strategies to suit the needs of each domestic programme
  • Support on the integration of GFD with other key departments I.E. Academy / Women’s / Foundation to develop an efficient and aligned way of working across key areas of the Club
  • Lead on the procurement process for domestic programme renewals as directed
  • Support the process of all contract and legal negotiations for domestic partnerships as directed
  • Line manage, develop, and support domestic programme leads and their subsequent coaching teams to always ensure an exceptional standard of delivery on and off the pitch and that all programmes achieve their respective programme KPI’s and commercial targets
  • Support the Coach Development Manager in conducting quality assurance assessments on domestic coaching staff within the departments observation framework as required
  • Support on the identification, recruitment and onboarding of coaches across the department
  • Develop a high-performing culture built on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
Safeguarding
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulation including Safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance, PL licensing requirements, and FA Safeguarding standards
  • Alongside the Department Safeguarding Manager & Operations Manager, support all aspects of risk from a safeguarding perspective for all domestic programmes incl. risk assessments and mitigating risks within programmes
  • To ensure that safeguarding requirements, understanding, and learning are embedded within the GFD’s ways of working, activities and behaviours of all staff and CDP students
General

Skills & Experience
  • Minimum UEFA B Coaching Licence
  • FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) Qualification
  • Proven experience coaching within a football development, academy, or education based programme (e.g. college football provision)
  • Experience managing or leading a team of coaches, including performance management and quality assurance
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Degree in Sports Coaching, Sports Management, Education or related field
  • Experience working specifically with 16–18-year-old age groups in an education setting
  • Track record of managing budgets and working towards commercial / KPI targets
  • UEFA A Coaching Licence
  • FA Advanced Youth Award
  • FA Talent ID Level 1 or 2
