About the role:

We are looking for a motivated and inspiring food technology teacher to join our alternative provision school. The successful applicant will join our KS4 centre in Cheltenham, working as part of a large team to support up to 40 students either return to mainstream or complete their KS4 qualifications with us. You will teach groups of up to 8 students, supporting them to complete a range of qualifications including WJEC Food Technology and the Gateway Vocational Award. In addition, you will be a key tutor, building effective relationships with students and parents/carers to promote high levels of attendance, positive engagement and students’ social and emotional development.

About the school:

The Altus School is a local authority maintained alternative provision school, working with students from Year 1 through to Y11 who predominantly join us after a permanent exclusion from a mainstream setting. We are a supportive and nurturing school and place relationships at heart of all that we do to help our students flourish both in school and in the wider community. You can hear directly from our staff about what it is like to work at the school by looking at our website. You will be joining a challenging but ultimately hugely rewarding environment. Every day is different, you will develop strong working relationships both with students and your colleagues. Together, we make a real difference for our young people and families.

We are a growing school with 7 centres across Gloucestershire and as of September we will have capacity for 280 students. There are a wide range of opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues across the school to plan and share best practice. In addition, you will benefit from a generous employee assistance scheme which includes health care, online sports and fitness and wellbeing support.

We welcome visitors to the school to come and see us in action.

We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully enhanced DBS.

We must receive a fully completed application form and covering letter for all applicants.

Deadline for applications: 9am, 19 June 2025 with interview date to be advised
