In this role, you’ll combine a community spirit and a passion for customer service, working alongside your team to serve your community, keep customers happy, and ensure the store hits its targets. You’ll take pride in your team, building an inclusive culture that encourages engagement and personal development for colleagues to reach their full potential. Some of your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Taking full responsibility for the performance and day-to-day operations of your store
  • Motivating and encouraging your team to support the achievement of the key performance indicators for the store
  • Effectively delegating workloads and organising store schedules over a four-week period
  • Ensuring and providing excellent customer service, setting the standard for your team and inspiring them to achieve it
  • Coaching your team to be passionate and knowledgeable about the products in your store, by building our brand and providing customers with great availability, freshness, and service to ensure they come back for more
  • Working towards our purpose and approach, by being helpful, inspiring, and trustworthy in any given situation
About You

Our Store Managers are role models for their teams, and therefore need to be enthusiastic and motivating leaders. You'll be proactive in your approach to deliver superb customer service and promote outstanding store performance, to ensure our customers and members have the best experience possible. You’ll need to show us:

  • Previous experience in a similar environment of leading and developing a team in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
  • Excellent time-management, delegation, and problem-solving skills
  • A customer-focused manner, always prioritising the customer experience
  • The ability to be organised and adaptable, working on several tasks to tight deadlines
  • A substantial understanding and up-to-date knowledge of commercial, visual, operational, and people processes and systems
  • An engaging leadership style; being a strong coach and mentor to all colleagues.

You’ll need to be over 18 years old to be a Food Store Manager, as you’ll need to authorise age-related sales.

In addition to working for a successful co-operative business, we offer our colleagues fantastic benefits, including:

  • Up to 30 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
  • Pension scheme offering up to 12% employer contributions
  • Generous colleague discount rates across our family of businesses
  • Annual discretionary colleague bonuses to reward you for your hard work
  • Free tea and coffee provisions for all colleagues during rest breaks at work
  • Wellbeing initiatives and community engagement opportunities
