Job summary

As a Food Service Assistant with BaxterStorey, you will support multiple North East locations, delivering high standards of service and food safety. You will work five days out of seven, including weekends and evenings as required, and use your own car to cover the region.

You will assist with food preparation, service, stock control, and till operations while providing friendly customer service and maintaining cleanliness and safety across sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in food service, catering, or hospitality environments.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Strong people skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
• Excellent time keeping and reliability.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food and beverages per recipes, portions and presentation standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitisation of food prep areas and equipment.
• Assist with stock management, receiving, storing and rotating items.
• Support setup and breakdown of dining areas and service stations.
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service and respond to requests.
• Operate till systems and process payments accurately.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house teams for smooth service.
• Monitor stock levels and equipment maintenance needs.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols and company policies.
• Support area-wide initiatives and cover shifts across locations.

Salary: £13.40 per hour plus mileage allowance

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and organised Food Service Assistant to join our area support team in Durham and wider area. In this role, you will provide essential support across multiple food service locations, ensuring consistent standards of service delivery, food safety, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be flexible, efficient, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and professional conduct.

• Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitisation of food preparation areas, equipment, and serving stations in compliance with food safety regulations
• Assist with stock management, including receiving, storing, and rotating food items appropriately
• Support the setup and breakdown of dining areas and service stations
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service, responding to queries and requests with professionalism
• Operate till systems and process payments accurately
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service operations
• Monitor and report on food stock levels and equipment maintenance requirements
• Adhere to all health and safety protocols and company policies
• Support area-wide initiatives and cover shifts across multiple locations as required

• Desirable: Experience with stock management systems or point-of-sale technology
