Job summary

Aramark UK is recruiting a Food Service Assistant to join the team at MOD Caledonia, Rosyth. You will serve meals and beverages to customers, assist with basic food preparation, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and customer service in a Defence Services environment.

The role offers 35 hours per week with rotating shifts, free on-site parking, pension, life assurance, and opportunities for training and career progression within Aramark.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering or food service essential.
• Understanding of catering hygiene and food safety requirements.
• Basic food preparation skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve food and beverages following portion control and presentation standards.
• Assist with basic cold food preparation.
• Clean back-of-house areas, crockery, cutlery, and catering equipment.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in service and welfare areas.
• Dust, polish, vacuum and keep public areas presentable.
• Report customer feedback, stock requirements, equipment faults or hazards to management.
• Maintain accurate operational records as required.
• Follow food hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are safe and well-maintained.
• Report equipment deficiencies and replacement needs promptly.
• Support the wider catering team with operational duties as required.

We are currently recruiting for a Food Service Assistant to join our team at MOD Caledonia, Alanbrooke Barracks, Rosyth, KY11 2XH. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced catering professional to work within a busy Defence Services environment, supporting food service delivery while maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, food safety, and customer service.

What you'll be doing

• Serving food and beverages to customers following prescribed portion control and presentation standards
• Assisting with basic cold food preparation
• Cleaning back-of-house areas, crockery, cutlery, and catering equipment
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout service areas, customer areas, and welfare facilities
• Dusting, polishing, vacuuming, and ensuring all public areas remain presentable
• Reporting customer feedback, complaints, stock requirements, equipment faults, or hazards to management
• Maintaining accurate operational records as required
• Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times
• Ensuring cleaning equipment and materials are maintained in safe working order
• Reporting equipment deficiencies and replacement requirements in a timely manner
• Supporting the wider catering team with operational duties as required

Qualifications

About you

• Previous experience in a similar catering or food service role is essential
• Good understanding of catering hygiene procedures and food safety requirements
• Basic food preparation skills
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Proven record of reliability, attendance, and professional conduct
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment
• Positive, flexible, and proactive approach to work
