Job summary

The Cake Crew Ltd. in Bala, North Wales is seeking a Shift Maintenance Engineer to keep production moving.

This hands-on role requires 12-hour day or night shifts including weekends, with a focus on breakdown response, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement. You will work with food manufacturing equipment such as metal detectors, mixers and conveyors; 3+ years engineering experience; NVQ Level 3 or higher; 17th/18th Edition; read drawings; strong fault finding; team player; flexible

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ engineering experience.
• NVQ Level 3 or higher in electrical or mechanical discipline.
• Recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• 17th or 18th Edition certification.
• Strong fault-finding and breakdown experience.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings/manuals.
• Excellent communication and decision‑making skills.
• Flexible, hands-on approach and team player.
• PC literacy including MS Office and a PPM system.

Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to breakdowns, minimising downtime.
• Carry out reactive, proactive and planned maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and repair plant and machinery.
• Drive improvements in plant uptime and engineering performance.
• Support new machinery and site improvement projects.
• Maintain Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP standards.
• Work with Production and external contractors.
• Maintain engineering records and stock control.
• Contribute to production meetings and share knowledge.
• Learn new skills and mentor colleagues.
