Job summary

Harper Adams University seeks a dedicated Paralegal to join the Legal Team for a 12-month maternity cover, supporting compliance with the UK GDPR, Freedom of Information Act 2000, and Environment Information Regulations 2004. The appointee will report to the Head of Legal and University Secretary’s Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate responses to Freedom of Information requests, collaborating with relevant University departments to gather information necessary for responses
• Provide advice and guidance to all staff on data compliance issues.
• Conduct assessments and audits to ensure data compliance, including identifying opportunities to simplify and streamline processes, staying abreast of developments in data protection laws and regulations.
• Conduct data impact risk assessments.
• Work closely with the Legal team in respect of data protection issues, including the identification, management, and resolution of personal data breaches.
• Work closely with relevant University teams to implement and monitor data security measures, including drafting and advising on data sharing agreements.
