Job summary

Major Recruitment Bedford is recruiting an Electrical Shift Engineer for a food manufacturing site in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. This full-time, permanent role involves rotating shifts 06:00–14:00, 14:00–22:00, 22:00–06:00 with an urgent interview process.

The ideal candidate will plan and perform PPMs, attend breakdowns, and drive cost reductions while maintaining hygiene standards and high safety practices. FMCG experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Food industry experience required.
• 18th Edition wiring regs must be held.
• HND/HNC in electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan & prioritise work to minimise downtime and maximise output.
• Log PPMs in SAP and ensure completion is recorded.
• Attend breakdowns and minimise downtime.
• Carry out repairs to plant, equipment and facilities.
• Identify ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Support hygiene audits and plan routine shutdowns.
• Champion Continuous Improvement within the site.
• Maintain service equipment and collaborate with team leaders.
• Work safely and drive a culture of safe practices.
• Aim to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Participate in on-call rota as required.
