Come and Join Our Team

If you are an experienced, qualified Early Years leader who is committed to making a real difference to the lives of children and families and believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, then this could be the role for you.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Childcare Leader to lead our CIW-registered nurseries, Sêr Ni Flying Start Llwynhendy and Sêr Ni Bynea, managed by Llwynhendy Children's Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Early Years professional with experience of leading teams, managing change and maintaining excellent standards of childcare and learning.

As Childcare Leader, you will work alongside staff, parents, children and professional agencies to shape and lead high-quality, inclusive provision that is guided by the voice of the child. You will promote a culture where children's views, rights, wellbeing and individual needs are central to planning, practice and service development, ensuring every child is supported to learn, develop and thrive.

You will provide inspirational leadership to staff teams, championing child-led learning, children's rights, safeguarding and inclusion. Through effective partnership working and a commitment to early intervention, you will help ensure children and families receive the right help, in the right way, at the right time.

Working as part of a wider multi-agency team, you will contribute to a whole-family, whole-system approach that supports positive outcomes for children and families. Building strong relationships with parents, carers and partner agencies, you will play a key role in ensuring children remain at the centre of all decision-making and support.

Responsible for the operational management of both settings, you will ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate Wales National Minimum Standards, Flying Start Childcare Quality Guidance, Carmarthenshire County Council policies and procedures, and all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Through effective quality assurance, self-evaluation and continuous improvement, you will maintain excellent standards of care and learning, support inspection readiness, and celebrate the achievements of children, families and staff.

The successful candidate may also be required to provide leadership and management support across other Local Authority Flying Start nurseries on a peripatetic and ad hoc basis, maintaining operational continuity and high standards of provision where management cover is required.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Lead, motivate and develop childcare teams to deliver excellent practice.

  • Effectively lead teams through change and service developments.

  • Promote child-led learning rooted in the voice and rights of the child.

  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers and partner agencies.

  • Lead and manage excellent standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion.

  • Lead quality assurance, self-evaluation and continuous improvement.

  • Lead and enable support for staff development, supervision and performance management.

  • Coordinate the delivery of Flying Start Childcare, the 30 Hour Childcare Offer and private fee‑paying childcare services.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated team that places children and families at the heart of everything it does. You will play a key role in ensuring children have access to high-quality childcare and learning experiences that enable them to reach their full potential and achieve the best possible start in life.

Join us if you are committed to leading exceptional Early Years provision and making a lasting difference through inclusive, child‑centred practice.

For an informal discussion, please contact Estelle Etheridge Lawrence on: 01554 742203.

An Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this job. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk

Level 3 – You will need a good level of conversational Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level
