Job summary

JDR Recruitment are recruiting for a Counterbalance FLT Driver for our client based in Swinton, M27. The role involves safely operating a counterbalance forklift in an outdoor yard to load/unload vehicles and move goods between yard and warehouse.

You will perform daily FLT checks, secure loads, and follow health & safety rules. The role requires at least a Counterbalance FLT licence and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Counterbalance FLT licence required.
• Experience operating FLT in yard/outdoor environment recommended.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate a counterbalance FLT safely in an outdoor yard.
• Load and unload vehicles (HGVs, trailers, vans).
• Move pallets and stock between yard and warehouse areas.
• Stack and store goods following site procedures.
• Carry out daily FLT checks and report defects.
• Secure loads to prevent damage.
• Follow health & safety rules and traffic systems.
• Assist with general yard duties (housekeeping, waste).
• Work with warehouse operatives, drivers and supervisors.
• Complete basic paperwork or system scanning.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard.

Job Purpose

To safely and efficiently operate a counterbalance forklift truck within an outdoor yard environment, ensuring the timely movement, loading, unloading, and storage of goods while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a counterbalance FLT safely in an external yard environment
• Load and unload vehicles (HGVs, trailers, delivery vans)
• Transport pallets, materials, and stock between yard and warehouse areas
• Stack and store goods in designated locations in line with site procedures
• Carry out daily FLT checks and report defects immediately
• Secure loads correctly and ensure goods are handled without damage
• Follow all health & safety, site rules, and traffic management systems
• Assist with general yard duties as required (e.g. housekeeping, waste management)
• Work closely with warehouse operatives, drivers, and supervisors
• Complete basic paperwork or system scanning where required
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard area

Skills & Experience

• Counterbalance FLT licence
• Experience operating FLT, ideally in a yard or outdoor environment
• Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions

• Includes Outdoor yard-based work
• Exposure to varying weather conditions

We have the following shift patterns available:

The hourly rate for days is £13 per hour

The hourly rate for nights is £13.50 per hour
