Job summary

Salford Council is seeking a Floating General Assistant to support the School Meals service at Tottington Primary School. The role is 10 hours per week during term time, Mon–Fri 11:30am–1:30pm, assisting the Cook Supervisor with dining room setup, serving meals and basic food preparation.

BASED AT TOTTINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

Working Hours: 10 hours per week, Mon Fri 11.30am-1.30pm

Contract Type: Permanent, Term time only

As a Floating General Assistant you will assist the Cook Supervisor in providing healthy, nutritious meals for the children of Salford. Duties may include setting up of dining rooms, washing up, serving of food and some basic food preparation.

Please be aware that this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50 (£41 for checks completed from 5th October 2026). The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month (£10.25 per month from 5th October 2026). If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50 (£41 from 5th October 2026).
