Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop and test safety-critical software for autonomous flight control systems. You will verify with bespoke simulations, deploy to hardware, and perform real-world flight testing at the near-site facility.

You will contribute to SOPs and ongoing process improvements while collaborating in a multidisciplinary team. A National Security Vetting clearance to SC level is required.

Qualifications

• Essential: degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing National Security Vetting clearance (SC).
• Desirable: guidance, navigation and control for fixed/rotary wing vehicles.
• Knowledge of sensing systems and small UAS.
• Experience with embedded real-time safety-critical systems.
• Version control: Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for flight control systems.
• Use MATLAB/Simulink to generate flight control laws and data manipulation algorithms.
• Verify and validate via bespoke simulations and deploy on target hardware.
• Conduct real-world flight testing at the test facility near the office.
• Prepare reports and customer-facing presentations on testing results.
• Contribute to SOPs and continuous improvement of methods and techniques.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively.
