Job summary

Randstad Digital is seeking an experienced Flight Control & Dynamics Engineer to design, model, and validate control laws for UAS. The role centers on Model-Based Development (MBD), building high-fidelity 6-DOF simulation models, tuning control loops, and conducting SIL/HIL tests.

You will translate mission requirements into robust control algorithms and mentor junior engineers in Simulink practices and flight dynamics. UK SC clearance is required or eligible.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and validating flight control laws for UAVs.
• Strong model-based development using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Hands-on with 6-DOF flight dynamics modelling.
• UK security clearance required or eligible for MoD vetting.

Responsibilities

• 6-DOF Vehicle Modelling: build/update high-fidelity models in MATLAB/Simulink.
• Control Law Development: design and optimise flight control laws and trajectory management.
• Model-Based Verification: perform SIL and HIL simulations to verify stability/performance.
• Flight Test Analysis: analyze telemetry/log data, perform system identification.
• Technical mentorship: guide mid-level and junior engineers in control theory and Simulink best practices.
• Expert MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow: use as primary tool for design and simulation.
