Job summary

Newhill Primary School in Blairgowrie is seeking a dedicated School Support Worker to join our team on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027. The role covers supporting children and young people, assisting the senior leadership with admin duties, and helping ensure a safe, efficient school operation.

We welcome applicants who are flexible, compassionate and patient, with experience supporting children with additional needs. The post is term-time only with 27.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing.

• An ability to engage with children and young people.
• Confidentiality in relation to children, young people and their families.
• Experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting children and young people with additional support needs within an Early Years Setting or within a Primary School.

Responsibilities

• From working with children and young people, to supporting the senior leadership team with administrative duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the school, the remit of the role is diverse with no two days the same.
• The School Support Worker role is varied and may include supporting children and young people who present with needs which may include: Social and Emotional, Learning, Communication, Physical, Personal Care.
• The School Support Worker may have a role in supporting positive behaviour management programmes and individual support plans, both within the classroom setting and at social times outdoors in the playground.
