Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking Teaching Assistants for flexible short-term and long-term opportunities across Clacton-on-Sea and nearby areas. You will support pupils to access learning and thrive in an inclusive environment.

Roles involve one-to-one and small-group support, assisting teachers, supporting behaviour strategies, and monitoring pupil progress. Salary is paid weekly through PAYE, with opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting pupils in a school setting.
• Understanding of strategies for supporting children with a range of needs.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
• Confidence working across different year groups.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities.
• Help implement behaviour strategies in line with school policies.
• Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
• Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and communicate with teaching staff.
• Contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements.
