Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking a flexible Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Plymouth and surrounding areas. You will assist in one-to-one and small-group settings, help teachers deliver engaging activities, and contribute to safeguarding and behaviour strategies in line with school policies.

Ideal candidates have prior school experience, strong relationships with pupils and staff, and the patience to work across different year groups.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting pupils in a school setting.
• Understanding of strategies for supporting children with a range of needs.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff.
• Patience, empathy and adaptability; confidence with different year groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities.
• Help implement behaviour strategies in line with school policies.
• Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
• Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and communicate with teaching staff.
• Contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements.
