Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd. is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for daily supply roles across Newmarket and surrounding areas. You will support pupils with SEND in various school settings, collaborating with teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised plans and deliver 1:1 or small-group support.

The role emphasises inclusion, positive behaviour, and flexibility to work in different environments. DBS checks and teamwork are essential, with pay handled weekly through PAYE.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in school or care settings.
• Understanding of EHCPs and strategies for supporting diverse needs.
• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (desirable).
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and communication.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of SEND including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs
• Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised learning plans
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
• Promote inclusion and positive behaviour in the classroom
• Assist with personal care and mobility where required
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and assessments
• Adapt quickly to different school environments and pupil needs
