Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with diverse needs across daily supply roles in the East Midlands region. You will work across multiple schools, delivering 1:1 and small group support while implementing personalised plans.

Ideal candidates bring SEND experience, EHCP awareness, and a calm, patient approach. DBS via Update Service is preferred or applicants willing to obtain one; weekly PAYE pay is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in school or care settings.
• Understanding of EHCPs and strategies for supporting diverse needs.
• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (desirable).
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and communication.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of SEND including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs.
• Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised learning plans.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum.
• Promote inclusion and positive behaviour in the classroom.
• Assist with personal care and mobility where required.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and assessments.
• Adapt quickly to different school environments and pupil needs.
