Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to provide flexible day-to-day cover in a Reading specialist setting. The role involves supporting pupils with a range of needs across primary and secondary classes, including personal care where required, in a caring, stable environment.

The position offers varied days and requires reliability, adaptability, and a patient, compassionate approach to helping pupils engage with learning and develop independence.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND.
• Experience providing personal care.
• Comfortable supporting pupils with ASD, PMLD and SLD.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient.
• Reliable and adaptable in a busy school setting.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups.
• Assist with learning and classroom activities.
• Support communication and sensory needs.
• Promote pupil independence and wellbeing.
• Provide personal care where required.
• Help maintain a safe, calm learning environment.
• Follow individual support plans and guidance from staff.
• Adapt to different classrooms and pupil needs during cover.
