Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately in the Haverhill area and surrounding regions.

You will support pupils with a range of SEND, assist teachers with differentiated learning, and help implement individual education plans while promoting an inclusive, caring classroom environment. Training and safeguarding are core commitments.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND.
• Understanding of strategies for supporting needs such as autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
• Ability to build positive and nurturing relationships with pupils.
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
• Adaptability across different classrooms and school environments.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities.
• Help implement individual education plans and behaviour strategies.
• Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
• Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and communicate effectively with staff.
• Contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements.
