Job summary

Randstad UK in Exeter seeks a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for its flexible supply bank. You will support pupils with diverse needs across mainstream and specialist settings, choosing your days and hours to fit your lifestyle and school requirements.

Role offers term-time hours (08:30–15:30) with weekly PAYE pay, and the chance to gain rewarding classroom experience while helping students thrive in inclusive environments.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or adults with additional needs.
• A patient, proactive, and empathetic approach to behaviour and learning.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly to new school environments.
• Relevant training or qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Team-Teach, Makaton, PECS) are advantageous but not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support to pupils with diverse needs, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, MLD/SLD, or speech and language barriers.
• Assist classroom teachers with lesson delivery and the implementation of differentiated activities.
• Offer 1:1 support or work with small groups to boost student engagement and confidence.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies to help de-escalate challenging situations calmly.
• Foster an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment where every student can thrive.
