Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking adaptable SEN Teaching Assistants for day-to-day supply across Plymouth and nearby areas. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support in mainstream primary schools, helping pupils with ASD, ADHD, or SEMH.

Flexible scheduling lets you match your availability, with school hours typically 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM during term time. Applicants should have Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualifications or relevant care/youth experience, and an enhanced DBS registered with Update Service.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with primary-aged children with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs).
• A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to managing behaviour and supporting learning.
• Strong communication skills to liaise quickly with local school staff.
• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness ).
• Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications, or background experience in care/youth work, are highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide flexible, 1:1 or small:group support to primary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH).
• Adapt classroom activities on the fly to match individual learning styles and capabilities.
• Use practical strategies, such as visual schedules and sensory tools, to support emotional regulation and keep pupils engaged.
• Help build pupils confidence, social communication skills, and independence in the classroom.
• Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCos, and school staff to maintain a consistent environment.
