Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Preston is seeking flexible SEN Support Staff to work across a range of specialist schools. The role offers ad hoc, part‑time hours with pay at £14.25 per hour and opportunities to gain experience in diverse educational settings.

Responsibilities include 1:1 or small group classroom support, helping pupils with academics, and supporting communication, social, and emotional needs while building positive relationships with learners. DBS checks and training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in education, care, youth work, coaching or similar sectors.
• Comfortable working with children who may require additional support.
• Able to develop positive relationships with pupils from diverse backgrounds.
• Patient, resilient and adaptable with a calm professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support to pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
• Support pupils with academic tasks and engagement in lessons.
• Assist with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Encourage positive behaviour and implement behaviour support strategies.
• Support students during breaktimes, enrichment activities and educational visits.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to meet learning targets.
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
• Contribute to safeguarding and welfare checks as required.
