Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Preston is seeking dedicated Specialist Support Assistants to work on an ad hoc basis across specialist schools.

You will support pupils with ASC, ADHD, MLD/SLD, and SEMH, delivering 1:1 or small-group assistance and collaborating with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to meet individual targets. Flexible hours and weekly pay offer practical support for diverse commitments.

Responsibilities

Providing classroom support to pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
Supporting pupils with academic tasks and engagement in lessons.
Building relationships to help learners develop confidence and independence.
Assisting with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
Encouraging positive behaviour and implementing behaviour support strategies.
Supporting students during breaktimes, enrichment activities and educational visits.
Working with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to meet targets.
Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
