Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Cheshunt and the surrounding areas. Roles range from flexible daily shifts to short-term assignments to fit your availability.

Ideal candidates will have experience with secondary students, strong classroom presence and excellent communication. DBS via Update Service or willingness to obtain one is preferred, with safeguarding checks in line with current guidance.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-aged students in educational settings.
• Strong behaviour management and classroom presence in busy environments.
• Clear communication and ability to engage students effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and reliability for flexible placements.
• Willingness to obtain or show Enhanced DBS via Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students remain on task
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour
• Support students with their learning and respond to questions where appropriate
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils during lessons
