Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking experienced Cover Supervisors for day-to-day supply across Chippenham secondary schools from September 2026. This role offers flexible hours and varied experiences across multiple sites.

You will supervise classes, deliver prepared materials and manage student behaviour while adhering to school policies and safeguarding procedures. The position emphasizes reliability, adaptability and effective communication with staff.

Qualifications

• Experience with secondary-age students.
• Willingness to work across different schools in Chippenham.
• Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.

Responsibilities

• Supervising secondary school classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and communicating instructions.
• Managing classroom behaviour firmly, fairly and consistently.
• Maintaining a safe, structured and productive learning environment.
• Monitoring student engagement and ensuring work is completed.
• Supporting students with their learning where appropriate.
• Communicating effectively with teaching staff and school leaders.
• Reporting any significant behaviour or safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Following school policies, safeguarding procedures and professional expectations.
• Adapting to different schools, subjects, year groups and classroom environments.
