Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Secondary Cover Supervisor to support North Somerset schools. You will supervise classes in the regular teacher's absence, follow pre-prepared lesson plans and maintain a productive learning environment.

This role suits someone confident, reliable and well-organised with strong behaviour management skills. Opportunities range from daily supply to longer-term placements across North Somerset, with ongoing consultant support.

Qualifications

• Experience as a secondary cover supervisor or in a similar education support role.
• Able to follow pre-prepared lesson plans and maintain a focused learning environment.
• Confident, reliable and well-organised with strong behaviour management.

Responsibilities

• Supervising secondary school classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and communicating instructions clearly.
• Managing classroom behaviour firmly, fairly and consistently.
• Maintaining a safe, structured and productive learning environment.
• Monitoring student engagement and ensuring work is completed.
• Supporting students with their learning where appropriate.
• Communicating effectively with teaching staff and school leaders.
• Following school policies, safeguarding procedures and professional expectations.
