Randstad Education is seeking a Supply Teaching Assistant (Primary) in Okehampton, Devon and surrounding areas for a September start. The role runs 8:30 AM–3:30 PM, term-time only, with daily pay of £92.56–£95.00.

You will work with pupils across early years to Year 6, supporting learning and development in a welcoming school environment. Experience with young people is essential; a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required or must be processed through Randstad.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people (e.g., youth clubs, sports coaching, nurseries, care or volunteering).
• Ability to commit to the 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM schedule.
• Must hold an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to process a new one through Randstad.

Your Role as a Supply Teaching Assistant

Working standard school hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, you will support primary school pupils across Okehampton and surrounding areas with their academic and social development.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
• Working 1-on-1 or in small groups with pupils who need extra support in reading, writing, and maths.
• Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children from Reception to Year 6.
• Adapting quickly to different school environments and team dynamics.

Requirements

You do not need a formal teaching qualification to apply, but experience working with young people is essential. We highly value transferable skills from various backgrounds.

• Experience: Proven experience working with children or young people (e.g., in youth clubs, sports coaching, nurseries, care or volunteering).
• Hours: Ability to commit to the 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM schedule.
• Key Skills: Excellent communication, patience, reliability, and a proactive "can-do" attitude.
• Vetting: Must hold an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to process a new one through Randstad.
