Job summary

Randstad Education in Okehampton, Devon, is seeking a Supply Teaching Assistant (Primary) to support pupils across the area. The role runs 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, term-time only, with September start and a daily rate of £92.56–£95.00.

You will assist teachers, support students 1:1 or in small groups, and help create an inclusive learning environment from Reception to Year 6. DBS required or willing to obtain.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people; transferable from youth clubs, sports coaching, nurseries, care or volunteering.
• Reliable, patient, and proactive with excellent communication.
• Willing to obtain/hold Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
• Commitment to the 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM schedule.

Supply Teaching Assistant (Primary) in Okehampton, Devon and surrounding areas. September start. Salary £92.56 - £95.00 per day. Hours Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (term-time only).

Your Role as a Supply Teaching Assistant

Working standard school hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, you will support primary school pupils across Okehampton and surrounding areas with their academic and social development.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
• Working 1-on-1 or in small groups with pupils who need extra support in reading, writing, and maths.
• Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children from Reception to Year 6.
• Adapting quickly to different school environments and team dynamics.

Requirements

You do not need a formal teaching qualification to apply, but experience working with young people is essential. We highly value transferable skills from various backgrounds.

• Experience: Proven experience working with children or young people (e.g., in youth clubs, sports coaching, nurseries, care or volunteering).
• Hours: Ability to commit to the 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM schedule.
• Key Skills: Excellent communication, patience, reliability, and a proactive "can-do" attitude.
• Vetting: Must hold an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to process a new one through Randstad.
