Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Sonographer to join a welcoming team with a strong emphasis on innovation and personal development. The department covers obstetric, gynaecological and general ultrasound within a busy environment, with support for CPD and internal courses, leadership programmes, and staff benefits

Qualifications

Must have PgD/MSc in Medical Ultrasound or Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (Obstetrics, Gynaecology +/- general ultrasound).
Hold a current state registration certificate (HCPC, NMC).
Have portfolio evidence and ability to travel to community sites (Fareham, Gosport, Petersfield).
Nuchal Translucency accredited (Fetal Medicine Foundation & DQASS).

Responsibilities

To perform obstetric, gynaecological and general and acute abdominal ultrasound scans.
To assess and report on own ultrasound examinations and maintain records.
To supervise and teach trainee sonographers, SpRs, student radiographers and other health professionals.
Ensure patient safety and experience with respect, dignity and courtesy in line with Trust values.
To participate in research, audit and CPD.
