Job summary

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Community Phlebotomist in Weymouth to support DN and Anticoagulation teams and visit housebound patients for venepuncture, returning samples to collection points promptly.

The role is 24 hours per week (4 days, Monday to Friday) with flexible start/finish times. Full induction, supervision, and DBS checks are provided; a valid UK driving license and access to a car are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to work autonomously with support as needed.
• Willingness to visit housebound patients in their homes to collect blood samples.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Community Phlebotomy for housebound patients in their own home who are unable to attend GP Practice.
• Support nursing team members with delivery of patient care.
• Support and liaise with doctors and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Process various specimens appropriately.
• Undertake blood pressure measurements and record correctly.
• Perform INR tests and work within standing operating procedure to deliver near patient testing service.
• Undertake other clinical duties at discretion of lead nurse.
• Ensure evidence-based practice is delivered within scope of professional practice.
