Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is recruiting an experienced Ophthalmology Consultant to join a high‑quality eye service in Scotland. This locum role covers outpatient clinics, diagnostics and surgical pathways with on-site and off-site on-call hours, requiring NHS experience and strong cataract surgery skills.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, patient‑centred care and contribute to service development with CPD opportunities and flexible working options.

Qualifications

Minimum six months recent NHS experience.
Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
Strong cataract surgery experience and broad general ophthalmology competence.
Evidence of ongoing CPD and professional development.
Clear and confident communication with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Deliver outpatient, diagnostic and surgical ophthalmology services including cataract and general ophthalmology care.
Provide subspecialty expertise as required to support service capacity.
Work within multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth patient pathways.
Support junior doctors, nursing teams and clinical colleagues.
Contribute to day-to-day ophthalmology surgical provision and governance.
