Job summary

Epsom and St Helier Hospitals are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join a busy ophthalmology department spanning Epsom and St Helier sites. The post involves autonomous work providing high-quality diagnostic testing and imaging for adults and children, under the direction of senior clinicians.

The role includes performing visual acuity testing, OCT, digital retinal imaging, corneal topography, biometry and visual field assessment, with opportunities to contribute to teaching and audits within

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English, Maths and Science (minimum)
  • Education to A level standard
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Qualification relevant to Ophthalmology (e.g., Moorfields OVS 3 or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients in the Ophthalmic department across Epsom and St Helier sites.
  • Provide diagnostic testing and imaging under supervision of senior staff.
  • Perform tests such as visual acuity, OCT, digital retinal imaging, corneal topography, biometry and visual field assessment.
  • Work within SOPs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in teaching and clinical audit.
