Job summary

18 Week Support is seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to support weekend breast clinics in Hampshire. You will work alongside consultants and registered healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in a professional outpatient setting.

The role runs on Saturdays and Sundays, 08:00–18:00, offering flexible weekend working and the opportunity to contribute to reduced patient waiting times while developing your ophthalmology skills.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within an Ophthalmology outpatient setting.
  • Ability to perform visual acuity assessments using Snellen and LogMar charts.
  • Ability to perform visual field testing, including 24-2 and 10-2 protocols.
  • Ability to perform Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) using the Heidelberg machine.
  • Ability to perform Anterior Segment OCT using the Heidelberg machine.
  • Ability to perform retinal imaging using the Optos.
  • Experience supporting consultants during a range of Ophthalmology procedures and treatments.
  • The ability to undertake and record patient observations accurately.
  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently while providing excellent patient-centred care.
