Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Nursery Teaching Assistant in Stockton-on-Tees to join a welcoming nursery. The role focuses on supporting early years development through play-based activities, with immediate start or September 2026.

You will work with the class teacher and Early Years team to create a safe, stimulating environment and help children learn, develop, and thrive using engaging activities. DBS required; extensive safeguarding knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Early Years setting.
• Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Early Years is desirable.
• Knowledge of the EYFS framework.
• Caring, patient and adaptable.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Fully checkable work history.

Responsibilities

• Support children's learning and development through play-based activities.
• Assist with daily classroom and nursery routines.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
• Support children's communication, language and social development.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive relationships.
• Assist with creative, sensory and outdoor learning activities.
• Support children's personal care needs where required.
• Observe and monitor children's progress and development.
• Help maintain a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
