Job summary

Wigan Council in Hindley is seeking a General Highways Operative Driver to carry out highway maintenance across the borough, including drain laying, trenching, reinforced concreting, manhole construction, shuttering, kerbing, laying flags, block paving and flexible surfacing.

The role offers Grade 5 salary of £27,709 to £30,515 per annum, 37 hours per week, with opportunities to develop leadership and multi-disciplinary teamwork within a collaborative council.

• Experience in highway maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all aspects of highway maintenance across the Wigan borough.
• Work to precise measurements in drain laying, trenching, reinforced concreting, manhole construction, shuttering, kerbing, laying flags, block paving and flexible surfacing.
• Provide an efficient highway maintenance service to other departments and external suppliers within Wigan Borough.
• Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects on time.
