Job summary

Driver Hire Torbay is seeking experienced or newly qualified HGV Class 1 C+E drivers for flexible, ad hoc day work in Newton Abbot. Roles offer regular shifts with potential for permanent placement with the right employer.

Positions cover the South West and South Wales, with competitive PAYE hourly rates (£18.41–£23.02), weekly pay, and minimum 8 hours per shift. Start times typically around 05:00.

Qualifications

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 C+E licence
• Valid Driver CPC qualification
• Digital Tachograph card
• No more than 6 penalty points
• No DR, DD or IN endorsements
• Reliable, professional and punctual

Responsibilities

• Drive a Class 1 C+E vehicle safely and professionally
• Deliver and collect caged goods across the South West and South Wales
• Complete delivery paperwork and transport documentation accurately
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects
• Follow all transport legislation, health and safety procedures, and company policies
• Maintain a clean and presentable vehicle
• Provide excellent customer service when representing our clients
• Workday shifts with typical start times from 05:00
