Job summary

Barnardos Mentora in Newport is recruiting an As and When Project Worker to support 121 befriending for children, young people and families. You will work with a volunteer-led team to deliver targeted family support, building trust and partnerships with diverse communities.

The role involves flexible hours, including some evenings and Saturdays, and requires a confident communicator with safeguarding awareness and a self-motivated approach to respond to fluctuating demand.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in family support, housing or voluntary/community sectors.
• Experience of paid work or volunteering in relevant settings.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of interventions across services and assist the team in providing timely support to families.
• Work with parents, carers and families one-to-one and in groups using a range of approaches.
• Co-facilitate group sessions, workshops and drop-in events for parents and carers.
• Contribute to safeguarding and policy compliance in daily practice.
