Job summary

Birch Wood (Melton Area Special School) is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to provide class cover and support high-quality teaching and learning. You will help pupils reach their potential and work within a collaborative team to maintain engaging learning experiences.

The role is fixed term until the end of the academic year 2027, 19.5 hours per week across Wed-Fri, and sits on the Grade 7 pay scale with progression options.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
• Level 2 maths/numeracy and English/literacy or equivalent to level 2.
• Experience of working with students in a formal setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a class in the absence of a teacher and ensure learning activity is followed.
• Liaise with teachers about work set for a class.
• Provide feedback to the teacher on pupil engagement and issues.
• Help prepare and maintain a safe learning environment in line with lesson plans.
• Maintain an activity bank to keep pupils engaged during cover.
