Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking flexible Secondary Cover Supervisors to support schools near Wymondham, South Norfolk. Roles range from day-to-day cover to longer-term placements, allowing you to choose your schedule while building classroom experience in Key Stage 3 and 4.

Ideal candidates have strong classroom presence, adaptability, and the ability to manage groups. DBS disclosure is required, with opportunities to progress into longer contracts or permanent roles in local schools.

Qualifications

• Previous experience managing, leading, or supporting groups of young people.
• Excellent classroom presence, communication skills, and confidence to lead a group independently.
• A calm, authoritative, and resilient personality paired with strong interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to supervise lessons across a variety of secondary subjects.
• Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students during the short-term absence of their regular subject teachers.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons provided by the department, ensuring students remain focused, on-task, and working safely.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment using effective behaviour management techniques in line with school policies.
• Assist students with queries regarding set work and provide encouragement to complete tasks.
• Collect completed work and leave detailed handover notes for the returning class teacher.
• Support school procedures regarding attendance, safety, and student welfare throughout the day.
