Job summary

West Midlands Fire Service is seeking a Workshop Manager for its Fleet Department based at Perry Barr, Birmingham. The role oversees the workshop and stores operations to maintain frontline fire appliances and equipment, ensuring safety, reliability and readiness for emergencies.

You will lead a skilled team, manage budgets and KPIs, and drive continuous improvement while delivering cost-efficient, customer-focused service across the West Midlands brigade.

Qualifications

• Essential skills include strong knowledge of LGV/PCV maintenance, DVSA standards, fleet systems and health and safety legislation.
• Proven experience managing workshop teams and supervising staff performance.
• Strong communication skills with attendance management, disciplinary procedures and staff development.
