Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking an Assistant Workshop Manager in Glasgow to help lead a busy Fleet Workshop. The role focuses on safe, compliant and cost-effective maintenance while maximizing vehicle availability for operations.

You will support performance, develop people, drive continuous improvement and build strong relationships with stakeholders, combining technical skills with people leadership for operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience within vehicle maintenance, fleet operations or a similar engineering environment.
• Knowledge of vehicle compliance requirements and road transport legislation.
• Strong leadership, coaching and performance management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a safe and compliant workshop operation, ensuring adherence to legal and Royal Mail safety standards.
• Drive workshop performance through effective resource planning, maintenance scheduling and cost management.
• Lead, coach and develop workshop colleagues to improve capability, engagement and performance.
• Ensure optimum vehicle availability to support operational requirements across the network.
• Build effective relationships with operational stakeholders and act as a key point of contact for fleet-related issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain quality standards within the workshop environment.
