Job summary

Sandwell Council’s Fleet Division is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role involves maintaining a diverse fleet, supporting housing repairs, grounds maintenance, highways operations, waste collection and street cleansing from the central depot.

You will carry out servicing, inspections, repairs, and MOT preparation in line with DVSA standards, using diagnostic tools, and you will mentor apprentices and junior staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ Automotive Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
• Experience with maintenance, inspection and repair across a diverse fleet.
• Able to diagnose faults with advanced diagnostic equipment and DVSA standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles and plant equipment.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing in line with DVSA standards.
• Diagnose faults across engine, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
