Job summary

The Medway workshop of South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Vehicle Maintenance Technicians for a fleet of over 700 vehicles, including ambulances, rapid response vehicles and 4x4s. Duties include fault diagnosis, safety inspections and MOT preparation, with seven-day workshop operation from 6am to 8pm on a shift rota.

Extensive experience repairing petrol and diesel vehicles is required, along with knowledge of diagnostic tools and adherence to health and safety

Qualifications

• Recognised motor vehicle maintenance qualification such as BTEC/HNC or City & Guilds level 3 and above.
• Extensive experience repairing and maintaining petrol and diesel vehicles, including unsupervised work on a diverse and specialised fleet.
• Repairing and maintaining service vehicles with specialised bodywork, livery and fittings.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, inspecting and repairing ambulances, rapid response vehicles, 4x4s and support vehicles.
• Planned and reactive maintenance of Trust vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnosing faults with advanced systems and computer-based diagnostic equipment.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT testing (Class IV and VII).
• Repairs involving electrical systems, welding and fabrication, hydraulics, heating and air conditioning.
