Job summary

Aviva plc in London is seeking a Fleet Underwriter to manage a portfolio of commercial fleet business, delivering sustainable profitable growth and excellent service to brokers and customers.

You will underwrite new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments across fleet risks, negotiate terms with brokers, monitor performance and contribute to underwriting improvements, playing a key role in Aviva's fleet market.

Qualifications

• Previous fleet, commercial motor, motor trade or commercial underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment and pricing within the commercial motor market.
• Experience building and managing successful broker relationships.
• Ability to make sound underwriting decisions and work confidently within delegated authority levels.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• A proactive approach to managing workloads and delivering high levels of customer and broker service.

Fleet Underwriter

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

A bit about the job:

As a Fleet Underwriter, you'll be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of commercial fleet business, delivering sustainable profitable growth while providing excellent service to brokers and customers.

You’ll assess and underwrite new business, renewals and mid‑term adjustments across a range of fleet risks, making informed decisions within your underwriting authority and in line with Aviva’s underwriting appetite. Working closely with brokers, you’ll negotiate terms, identify opportunities for growth and support the retention of profitable business.

Building strong broker relationships will be a key part of the role, helping you understand customer needs, provide technical underwriting guidance and position Aviva as the insurer of choice within the fleet market.

You’ll also monitor portfolio performance, identify trends and emerging risks, and contribute to underwriting improvements that support profitable outcomes, strong customer service and operational excellence.

• Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
