Job summary

Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Fleet Support Technician (Decision Support Technician) on a 12-month fixed term contract. Role pays £32,000 basic salary with a 20% shift allowance (£38,400 equivalent).

3 x 12-hour shifts on a 24/7 rotating pattern, working mainly from a control room to support a modern passenger rail fleet. You will fault-find, diagnose faults, coordinate with drivers, controllers, and maintenance teams, produce reports, and help keep services

  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good understanding of electrical, mechanical, or vehicle systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys fault finding, problem solving, and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Working primarily from a control room setting, you'll play a key role in responding to in-service faults, supporting operational teams, and helping keep services running safely and reliably.

The Role You'll act as a central point of contact when faults occur, working closely with drivers, controllers, and maintenance teams to assess issues and coordinate the appropriate response.

  • Able to make decisions and remain calm under pressure
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification desirable
