Job summary

Allied Mills is hiring a Distribution Team Leader at Tilbury to oversee fleet and distribution operations for bulk and bagged flour. You will lead a skilled team, manage subcontractors and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery across 24/7 operations.

The role requires CPC qualification, strong leadership, and a proven ability to optimise logistics in an FMCG setting. A flexible, self-motivated approach and proficiency with MS Office and distribution systems are essential.

Qualifications

• CPC qualification required.
• Experience leading a distribution team in an FMCG environment.
• Proficient in MS Office and distribution software.
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
• Able to work on own initiative and be reliable.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day movements of own fleet and sub-contractor resources.
• Adjust delivery schedules based on demand to maintain service levels.
• Control and monitor sub-contractor usage and costs.
• Coordinate vehicle loading with the mill team to support production.
• Ensure effective shift handovers with FLMs and TLs.
• Support health, safety, and food safety standards with the local HSE team.
• Plan fleet maintenance, testing and hygiene events.
• Ensure maintenance standards meet legal and company requirements.
• Ensure tachograph policy compliance.
• Conduct driver appraisals and disciplinary hearings in line with policy.
• Deploy Isotrak system daily with reports.
• Collect driver worksheets and input into DIMS.
• Manage Manchester distribution office holidays coverage.
• Collate local KPI information for the Logistics Manager.
• Inform planning of driver hours to maximize resources.
• Create, issue and receipt purchase orders.
• Attend local KPI and management meetings.
• Deputise for Logistics Manager in their absence.
