Job summary

FCC Environment in Central Bedfordshire is seeking a Fleet & Compliance Manager to support the Contract Manager in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations across the Bedford and Dunstable depots.

You'll oversee daily fleet performance, monitor contracts, manage budgets and lead a frontline team to meet service standards while maintaining regulatory compliance. This full-time role offers 25 days leave, life insurance, a discretionary bonus scheme and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Operational management experience in waste or similar environment.
• Experience leading teams and meeting budgets.
• Knowledge of heavy goods vehicle fleets and transport legislation.
• Strong numeracy and IT literacy.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Contract Manager with daily safe, compliant operations.
• Monitor contracts and vehicle operations to maximise efficiency.
• Maintain service standards across collections, cleansing and related services.
• Supervise equipment, materials and personnel to optimise resource use.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
• Ensure staff have valid licences and certificates.
• Lead briefings and staff training on contract objectives.
• Support health and safety and environmental compliance.
• Engage with clients and regulatory bodies as required.
