Job summary

Smart Search Technical Ltd is seeking an Asset Manager to own the fleet of forklift trucks and related equipment across the West Midlands and other UK locations. You will lead asset data, inspections and reporting, while coordinating with Sales, Operations and Workshop teams to optimise utilisation and value.

The role combines strategic asset management with hands-on engineering oversight, including regular site visits and documentation of asset condition and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in forklift trucks, plant, access equipment or similar capital equipment.
• Strong understanding of machinery condition, maintenance and asset values.
• Willingness to travel to other UK locations when required.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a central database covering assets and equipment.
• Ensure asset information and records remain accurate.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations and Workshop teams to manage available machinery.
• Carry out inspections of forklift trucks and equipment.
• Assess machinery condition and structural integrity.
• Photograph and record asset damage and condition.
• Assist Sales with sourcing equipment when needed.
• Review fleet age, utilisation and costs.
• Develop relationships with trade customers for disposal of used equipment.
• Produce asset performance and fleet utilisation reports.
